Inspired by the ancient tradition of Damascus metal forging, Ginsu created the blades in the Damascus Series by melding 33 layers of superior Japanese high- and low-carbon stainless steel over a VG-1 core. Then, a special cryogenic cooling process was used to draw the molecules of the steel closer together, forming a superior blade with a wickedly sharp edge.
